Tanglegenes and his Retinue...

Well, I've not managed to paint anything much since my last post, but finally had a couple of days at the painting desk over the Bank Holiday here in the UK, so I thought I'd show you what I've been up to...

Tanglegenes and his loyal assistants.

So, to start with, here's Tanglegenes, My renegade AdMech scientist, along with a couple of his trusted assistants. I've put Tanglegenes on here before, but he's a conversion of the old Citadel Eternal Champion figure, 'Tanglebones', with the addition of an old Eldar power fist, some Admech bits and a pair of goggles from Victoria Miniatures. The guy on the left is an old WFB Hunchback model, I think from the villagers range. The guy on the right is made up of a 4A miniatures Cthulhu Cultist bottom half, and the top half is from the Grey Knights 'Inquisitor Karamazov' model, again with AdMech arms.

As well as these guys, I've also made up a small back up force for him, comprising of former mine workers back from the days when Jamakeer was still being worked. Tanglegenes has extended their lives and augmented them over the years, replacing fallible human squishy parts with Holy Machine parts:

As you can see, they're old, and have damaged and patched up over the years. Buildwise, they're made up of old RT Imperial Guard bodies with AdMech weapons and heads from the Flagellants box set.

The Captain is seen here wielding an AdMech pistol and a captured Eldar Power Sword. Mechanically, his internal organs have been replaced with machinery, which is powered by a micro-fusion power generator on his back. This does make him rather liable to explode when hit, but it's not happened yet.

Next up is Waldo: Blinded by a laser mining accident many centuries ago, he is now guided by a combined backpack mounted HoloVue Cam and sonar radar that is wired directly into his brain, hence the metal brace.

Ol' Joe is one of the younger members of the team, being almost entirely human apart from his right hand.

Crazy Bill is next, augmented with a bionic right arm.

And finally, we have Blind Merrick, who also benefits from a HoloVue Cam/Sonar Rig, as well as having had both arms replaced.

So there we go, another small retinue almost finished. I've got a couple more models to finish painting, and then I might stat them up for Inquisimunda with a view to seeing how they actually perform on the table.

  1. They look like a suitably unruly bunch - excellent work! It's nice to see the seamless mixture of new and old.

  2. Loving all of those. They gel really well as a group aesthetic.

AND after seeing Tanglegenes I am going to be singing 'Let's do the time warp again' all day now!

  3. Wow, a great looking band. I love their charm, they all are great by themselves, but the whole group is marvellous.

  5. Very nicely done! That's a fine combination of old and new, borrowed and blue. Fit to attend a proper shotgun wedding. Though . . . my distinct sympathy to the bride or brides, should there be any. (Of course, old miners might make properly grateful and attentive companions. I suppose they're accustomed to hard labor digging around in the dark. And as a result they probably truly appreciate nice things and kind people.) Anyway . . . Fabulous bunch of fellows!

  6. A fantastic trio, and their henchmen are full of character too! The combination of bits really works for them.

  7. Excellent new faction. I think Blind Merrick is my favourite - something about the pose and combination of gear really appeals to me. Perfect bodyguard for Tanglegenes
