Jamakeer Mining Corporation Long Range Survey Team 'Opila'

Again, something else completed!

This time it's the completed survey team for my Squat Army, some of whom will be seeing service in our Inquisimunda campaign. When used in Rogue Trader, these guys will be used as the HQ, as well as a scout squad, and also a couple of specialists.

More pics after the cut...

First up it's the command section, consisting of the Captain, his Bosun 2IC and the Living ancestor you've seen before, along with a standard Bearer. Seeing as I've gone for a mining theme on these guys, rather than the usual 'Fat Bikers In Space' one, I thought it'd be wrong not to have a traditional Union banner, especially as I grew up in a pit town in the 80's, opposite the local mine:

Next up are a couple of specialists, the sniper on the left, slightly modified since his last appearance (thanks cat, for knocking him on the floor and losing his arm, really appreciate that!) and a shotgun weilding animal handler. The animal is a Gila-Munja, from the 'Judge Minty' Charity figure set made by Frothers the other year, which I got via the ever-reliable Fenris Games, with an added chain for a leash:

Thirdly is the Supprt Team, who's task is to provide protection and covering fire for the specialists if they need it. I've gone for a selection of different bolters on these guys, as wanted to emphasise that they operate at the outer limits of the Imperium, and so need to source their weaponry wherever they can:

Lastly, a bit of a close up of one of the Armsman, showing the 'JMC' logo on his sleeve. The company colours are blue, but as these guys are scouts and elites, rather than regular troops, they're got a lot more variation in their outfits. However, they've all still got the JMC logo or insignia on them somewhere:

You might also have noticed the ship in the background, which I'm a bit closer to completing, just need to do the weathering and detailing. It's the 'Ari Knörr', a modular transporter utilised by the JMC for surveying and cargo transportation missions. The centre container is magnetised, and can be removed and replaced with a number of modular pods depending on use.

Below is the crew, consisting of the Captain, (centre), a ratling pilot, the engineer, and a security detail of two heavily armed guards.

And another view of the ship, from above:

Their inaugural game was last night, and they passed themselves off quite successfully, seeing off an overly aggressive party headed up by a Rogue trader. A few shots were traded, several hits were made, and then the Rogue Trader obviously decided against going up against them and scarpered, sharpish.

Next job is to finish the other 30 or so squats! Or maybe do something else...

  1. I love the little guys, and the ship is excellent! A current 40k flyer with a cargo section inserted in the middle?
