A new post on an old project; Or Altheim, the return!

So, a project I started a long time ago (way back in 2014, when I had a job, career prospects and a working spine!) has finally risen back to the top of the pile, spurred on by a bunch of models I recently purchased. Altheim has made a comeback!

My 'Altheim' project was originally just a basic plan to remake all of the original cardboard buildings in the 'Warhammer Townscape' book as proper, detailed scratchbuilt models, but eventually morphed to become a plan to build a gaming table of a small working walled town, complete with inhabitants. I got a fair way into it, (hereherehere and here) then, like most of my grand plans, it stalled and I moved on to something else. But here we are, back again, so here's a small recap after the break...

A Small Waargh...

So, I've had most of these models lying around for years, some painted, some not. I decided to tidy them up and finish off a few vehicles after a friend picked up a resin not-Battlewagon for me, so here you go...

My plan for these is eventually to create a small army along the lines of 'Luggub's Drop Legion' from the Book of the Astronomican, and so I've used the models as pictured in the army list. My own personal view of Space Orks is more from this era of the RT fluff, where Orks are  space pirates, before Ansell and Stillman turned them into fart-obsessed fuckwits with stupid names like Snotglurp.

Anyway, more pics after the cut:

The Rogue Trader Bestiary Part 8: Ambulls!

Well, after all of the nice comments on the last post, and general interest in my bestiary project, I thought I'd push on and get the next instalment done asap!

This time it's one of the most popular of the animals in the original RT bestiary, the Ambull! It's also the only animal in the bestiary that has both an original RT model and a current, recently released one.

In honour of this, I've got not one, not two, but three whole painted Ambulls for you!

The Rogue Trader Bestiary Part 7: The Razorwing

I've had a bit of a break from my bestiary project, but a current Facebook competition has rekindled it a bit. This time it's a creature that's never had a model made for it, as far as I'm aware, the Razorwing:

Slann update! Oh, and an accidental pyramid...

So, here's where I've got to so far with the army, only a couple of new units, but I accidentally made a pyramid, too!

Photos and whatnot after the break...

Warriors of the Obsidian Empire: In depth with the Slann

As you may well have seen from from my last post, I'm currently working on my Slann army, so I thought I'd go a bit more in-depth into the challenges of trying to create a decent looking army from one of Citadel's more forgotten ranges. Here's where I am so far:

Wow, where did the time go? Back with Saga and Slann!

Well, it's been a good few months since I last posted anything of interest, so I thought I'd better make a bit of an effort to update the blog. It's been a bit of a dead season for gaming and painting for me, as I've had to let real life get in the way. In short, my health issues have meant that I don't have as much energy as I have previously, and so most of that has been going into my 'real' job of restoring old motorbikes, and some other maintenance work.

However, having said that, I've recently changed medication and the results have been a bit more positive, so I've had more energy and actually got to the painting desk again.

If you want to see what I've been up to, it's after the break...

2018 round up gallery

So, as is usual, I thought I'd do a bit of a round up of what I've done this year in my hobby world. The short answer is not as much as I'd have wanted to, to be honest, but here's a bit of a rundown on what I got up to over the year!

This was by far the largest model I managed, My Halfling Landship, the Admiral Battenberg:

Anyway, here's a look through my hobby photos of last year after the cut, if you're interested. Some of it I've already documented, but not all warranted a post of it's own...
