2017 Round up.

Or, in other words, 'Where the hell did the last two months go?'

Looking back at my photos, this is the last thing I painted, all the way back in October:

I did him partially as part of 'Orktober', but mainly as I found him when I was looking for bits for the 'Sleazy Chopper' conversion, and couldn't resist. It's a lovely little model.

Anyway, if you're interested in what else I've been up to, there's more after the break...

Thursday 12 October 2017

A short interlude and a 'Sleazy Chopper'...

Not had much going on in the wargaming world recently, as I'm currently engaging in a lot of real-world building work to get my long-sought after garage and workshop built before winter sets in, but have a random ork on a bike!

Only Fools & Beastmen: Jamakeer Guard update.

The VI (Penal) Company of the Jamakeer Guard

So, for the latest update to the guard, I've managed to finish off the VI (Penal) Company. There are five platoons in total, led (or more accurately intimidated!) by a Commissar.

The Rogue Trader Bestiary Part 5: Astral Spectre

This is a bit of a silly one really, but it's part of the list, so I thought I'd model something to represent it.

And here it is, threatening the brave trouserless trooper with a short life as a host to a psychic entity.

The Rogue Trader Bestiary Part 4: Vampires & Zombies

On to the next entry, and this time it's a double act, Vampires and Zombies, as the two are fairly inextricably linked. I may have gone a bit overboard here, and done an entire warband, rather than just an example of each entry...

Here, our intrepid guardsman can be seen understandably running away from a small army of his former comrades, summoned by a (currently hidden) Vampire!

The Rogue Trader Bestiary Part 3: Cthellean Cudbear

So, another one to cross off the list, and this time it's the Cthellean Cudbear that our intrepid trooper can be seen running away from. Serves him right for trying to use an abandoned mine as a toilet, if you ask me.

The Rogue Trader Bestiary Part 2: Astral Hound

So, like most of my other new projects, I've gone headlong into this one for a while at the expense of all the others.

For the next entry, I decided to start at the beginning with the warp creatures, and the Astral Hound...

The Rogue Trader Bestiary: Crawler (Part 1 in an occasional series)

So, as if I didn't have enough projects on the go, now I've decided on a whim to create models to represent of all the non-humanoid fauna listed in the Rogue Trader Bestiary. It allows me to do an occasional figure as a bit of a 'palate cleanser' between painting units for my ongoing Jamakeer Guard project. I may well go on to do all of the Flora in the book as well, but that'll be a separate project.

The 'Speedo Ghost' Arvus Class Light Cargo Hauler.

As a quick break from painting up lots of things primarily in blue, I thought I'd finish off this Forgeworld Arvus Shuttle I received as a gift last year, and I've had sat undercoated on the painting desk in the queue since then.

So, I'd like to introduce you to the 'Speedo Ghost', a small Sub-Orbital Light Cargo Hauler owned and operated by the Ace Trucking Co, an Independent unit operating out of Port Imperiale.

And now the heavy mob start to arrive...

I've been a bit quiet recently with some non-Imperial Guard items (more on that in another post!) But I've managed to get a brace of Land Raiders painted.

Jamakeer Guard (Again!) Here come the bikers...

Another small update, this time 'V' Company, 'C' Platoon (Cavalry) on Vincent Blackshadow bikes.

Friday 30 June 2017

Into the valley of death rode the brave, erm, ten. On camels.

So, more reinforcements, and this time it's onto the Jamakeer Rough Riders!

The more observant of you may have noticed they're not actually on horses, and there's a simple reason for that. It's because I absolutely detest those bloody awful plastic horses they originally came with.

Jamakeer Guard reinforcements!

So, painting of the PDF continues apace, and I've got another few units done, which can be seen below, but first up, here's a shot of the army in it's entirety so far:

Probably a mistake, but I've continued with specialist units, rather than the rank and file. I must try to intersperse the standard units into the ones that are more interesting to paint! You may notice that I've not done any unit insignia yet. Once I've got enough painted I'm going to custom print some decals for the whole army, so I'll do them all at once at the end.

First up is VII Company (Support) Combat Engineer Platoon with their C.E.R (Combat Engineer Rhino)

The Jamakeer Guard - A Rogue Trader 40k Planetary Defence Force

With most of the Genestealer Cult now painted up, I thought it was time to move on to a new project. I've had these knocking around in the leadpile for at least a decade, along with the idea to build up a Planetary Defence Force, and so they've finally reached the top.

So, I present to you the Jamakeer Guard. Or at least some of them, there are plenty more to come!

Group shot of the army so far.

RT Genestealer Coven - 'The Cult of the Chitinous Deliverance'

So, being a year or so behind the game when it comes to Genestealer Cults, I finally managed to get the majority of the figures I've been hoarding for about a decade painted, so here's a group shot!

In order to be contrary for the sheer hell of it, I managed to make them all without using any of the new Cultist plastics, even though they're actually very good indeed. So, now I present to you, the Cult Of The Chitinous Deliverance, Port Imperiale's Premier 'Alternative Religion'.

Tanglegenes and his Retinue...

Well, I've not managed to paint anything much since my last post, but finally had a couple of days at the painting desk over the Bank Holiday here in the UK, so I thought I'd show you what I've been up to...

Tanglegenes and his loyal assistants.

Saturday 4 February 2017

Undead reinforcements!

So, once I'd broken the back of those damned Nightmare Legion, I've managed to recently finish off a whole host of half-done models, so here's some photos of the army beginning to take shape (after the cut)

Sunday 29 January 2017

Skeletons! Faarsands of 'em! - RRD2 Nightmare Legion finished!

The Nightmare Legion, in all their glory!

Or, more accurately and not misquoting 'Zulu', one hundred of them, and the Nightmare Legion, to be precise!

These have been sat unfinished on my painting table for well over six months, taking up a huge block of space that could have been used for something more interesting, and so I was determined to get them finally done. Frankly, having a hundred-strong Nightmare Legion regiment was a stupid idea, and it turned into an absolute grind, as with the best will in the world, they're not actually very good models, apart from Mordini and Renzo.

Sunday 8 January 2017

Abhumans! Penal Beastman Squad

Another quick post, but I finished these off recently after having them sat unpainted for far too long on a shelf, and thought you might enjoy seeing them. They're a squad of Penal Beastmen, part of my RT Planetary Defence Force. Armed with shotguns and plasma weapons, these guys are designed to charge at the enemy and take them out at close quarters, with no thought to their own safety.

Wednesday 4 January 2017

Halfling reinforcements: Baron De'Tempika's Headhunters!

The army in all it's current glory!

So, as I mentioned in my last post, I've had a slow month or so on the painting front, but I've managed to finish off a few part finished projects in the last couple of days. One of those was the second unit of Halflings from the Westfalia Kickstarter, along with a couple of characters.
