A quick 2025 Review.

 It seems like a bunch of other people are doing this, so thought I'd copy their lead, mostly to reassure myself I did actually get some hobby stuff done this year, as tbh, it's not felt very productive. 

As you'll know if you follow my blog, I kind of stopped posting for a couple of years, a combination of hobby burnout, not feeling enthused about posting, and tbh wondering if the blog format was still worthwhile anymore, but I came back in March and decided to make a bit more of an effort. 

This big guy was probably the catalyst for all that, as I really enjoyed printing, assembling and painting him:

Bringing Dark Future artwork to life!

So, I'll start by saying that Dark Future is probably my favourite GW universe, Carl Critchlow is one of my favourite artists, and that this piece of Dark Future artwork by Carl is probably one of my favourite pieces of GW art:

Is this the World's most expensive Ork Warbike?

 

In my never ending quest to create the most pointless conversions known to Warhammer, I knocked up this monstrosity (in the centre, between some of my other Warbikes!)  a while ago but never really got around to documenting it. Back to the obscure: Rogue Trader 40k Minotaurs!

If you've followed my blog for any length of time, you'll know I'm probably one of the most pointlessly contrary gamers out there. I'm drawn to unloved armies, obscure models, ranges that never got filled out, pointless rarities and even the downright odd when it comes to Warhammer and Citadel Miniatures.

Back in the swing of things: Eldar diplomatic landing party

I'm finally able to paint again, which pleases me immensely, and in between catching up on commission work, I've been working on a small group of Eldar to ease me back into painting, and this is what I've got done so far:

Do What Thou Wilt... Perdurabo and Choronzon arrive at the Port.

Another couple of ne'er-do-wells have arrived at the Port on an unsanctioned transporter, the notorious Rogue Psyker known as Perdurabo, and his Xenos sidekick, Choronzon:

A Modern(ish) take on Ash Wastes Nomads...

This is yet another small project that got out of hand, this time I had an idea to make a model to represent an Ash Waste Nomad, but in the end I created a full warband for use in Port Imperiale or Necromunda:

Introducing 'Shortround', Port Imperiale's premier Nightclub owner...

So, after doing another pointlessly large, tightly themed build recently, I thought I'd paint up a few smaller single figures to relax a bit, and this is one of them. Any port would have plenty of bars and nightclubs, so this is Shortround, a Ratling Impresario!

2017 Round up.

Or, in other words, 'Where the hell did the last two months go?'

Looking back at my photos, this is the last thing I painted, all the way back in October:

 I did him partially as part of 'Orktober', but mainly as I found him when I was looking for bits for the 'Sleazy Chopper' conversion, and couldn't resist. It's a lovely little model.

The 'Speedo Ghost' Arvus Class Light Cargo Hauler.

As a quick break from painting up lots of things primarily in blue, I thought I'd finish off this Forgeworld Arvus Shuttle I received as a gift last year, and I've had sat undercoated on the painting desk in the queue since then.

So, I'd like to introduce you to the 'Speedo Ghost', a small Sub-Orbital Light Cargo Hauler owned and operated by the Ace Trucking Co, an Independent unit operating out of Port Imperiale.

The Jamakeer Guard - A Rogue Trader 40k Planetary Defence Force

With most of the Genestealer Cult now painted up, I thought it was time to move on to a new project. I've had these knocking around in the leadpile for at least a decade, along with the idea to build up a Planetary Defence Force, and so they've finally reached the top.

So, I present to you the Jamakeer Guard. Or at least some of them, there are plenty more to come!

RT Genestealer Coven - 'The Cult of the Chitinous Deliverance'

So, being a year or so behind the game when it comes to Genestealer Cults, I finally managed to get the majority of the figures I've been hoarding for about a decade painted, so here's a group shot!

In order to be contrary for the sheer hell of it, I managed to make them all without using any of the new Cultist plastics, even though they're actually very good indeed. So, now I present to you, the Cult Of The Chitinous Deliverance, Port Imperiale's Premier 'Alternative Religion'.

Well, I've not managed to paint anything much since my last post, but finally had a couple of days at the painting desk over the Bank Holiday here in the UK, so I thought I'd show you what I've been up to...

Abhumans! Penal Beastman Squad

Another quick post, but I finished these off recently after having them sat unpainted for far too long on a shelf, and thought you might enjoy seeing them. They're a squad of Penal Beastmen, part of my RT Planetary Defence Force. Armed with shotguns and plasma weapons, these guys are designed to charge at the enemy and take them out at close quarters, with no thought to their own safety.

Orkses on the rampage!

Not much to report at the moment on the gaming front as xmas, house renovations and a motorbike rebuild (Ural M66 combination, since you asked) have all taken their toll on my time for little men, but I found some photos of my RT Space Ork army that I've not put up on here, so thought I'd put them up to keep the blog active. It's mainly the original RTB02 Space Ork Raiders box set, along with a few characters picked up to fill out the force.

A short update: Some good news!

So, just a little update, but one that made me very happy recently, especially as I'm still struggling a bit with my recovery.

Another member of the Oldhammer community (Thanks Matte!) sent over some pics of my craft to Forgeworld HQ to show them what can be made out of FW bits. They were so impressed they asked me to get in touch with them to show their appreciation, which I did, and they UPS'd me over a Captain for it the very next day!

So here he is:

All shiny and boxed up! 

He's a limited edition Knight Scion, Standing. Only available if I remember correctly, if you pre-ordered one of the Forge World Knights and now long unavailable.

And just to prove I'm not totally ungrateful and chuck him on eBay for a quick profit, I've taken him out and given him a quick soap wash already, and about to give him an undercoat: 

He's a lovely figure, and will make a great Captain for the Pride of Jamakeer, I just need to work out how to fit the Red Star Lines' colour scheme into his uniform.

So yeah, thanks Forge World, you've really surprised me with your generosity, and cheered me up after a week or so of shitty news and events!

I nicknamed this one 'The Blue Turd' as it is, quite honestly, an absolutely terrible model.

'The Pride of Jamakeer' - A 'Maelstrom' Class Light Cargo Carrier - Finished!

Well, here you go, I finally finished the 'Maelstrom' Class cruiser and my word, it's a biggie...

In fact it's not just a biggie, it's positively huge, coming in at just over 20 inches long! It's by far the largest 40k model I've ever made. There's a load more photos after the cut, if you're so inclined...
